Does anyone eles have random phone numbers calling their cell phone all hours of the day?

Does anyone eles have random phone numbers calling their cell phone all hours of the day?
Sometimes if it leaves a voice mail, it leaves only static. If I call the number back it will be busy indefinitely. What is this? It is disturbing to me since often times it will wake me up in the middle of the night. Usually the area code is local to me. I usually receive about of these a week, all different numbers. Also, I have verizon if that matters. I would rather not change my phone number if I can help it since Ive had it for about years. Thanks!

yes , i do....even on my work mobile. It is not illegal for any ColdCanvasser to either purchase mobile phone number quotblocksquot or devise a Program to have a Computer dial a random sequence of possibles until they can get a Connection!......really , you dont want to talk to these contacts , as they only end up costing you . an alternate solution is to get into the habit of turning your Mobile to Silent Mode at night and only returning calls to numbers that YOU recognise. Most Telcos cant be bothered to implement a system whereby they could track these calls to apply some sort of Penalty to them , as they probably SOLD the number blocks in the First place......Sorry. At least thats how it goes here in OZ.
