I agree with the responses above that the Canon D a.k.a. Rebel XT would be a great place to start. An alternative would be the slightly less expensive Nikon D. You can get either of those with an mm lens for under . Include a GB memory card and a cheap second lens in the mm range, and youre set for around .brIf your budget is over , you could invest in more or better quality lenses, an external flash the D and the D both have a popup flash, a tripod, a camera bag, more memory cards, and so forth. This hobby can be as expensive as you want it to be brJust remember to always upgrade your lenses before upgrading the body a cheap body with great lenses will take better pictures than a professional body with cheap glass.
