Does a mobile phone work in a grave?

Question

Does a mobile phone work in a grave?
I understand that a number of people wish to be buried with their mobile phone, just in case they are not quite dead, and want to be rescued.

Answer

No it is doubtful that it would work. The base stations bounce the radio waves off the ground so the signal shouldnt get below ground for some strange reason people dont tend to make many calls from feet under.brbrIt would be more reliable to reintroduce the graveyard shift often referred to as a jokey name for the night shift. The origins of the saying date back to when fresh graves had a piece of string inside the coffin linked to a bell on the surface. If anyone hadnt quite quotexpiredquot and was buried they could ring the bell when they woke up, and some poor soul had to sit in the graveyard overnight listening for the bells to ring.
